Headshots & Portraits

Having come for a background in acting and theatre it was only natural for me to work alongside other creatives. I love being able to help their true essence shine through in these images, watching their careers grow and seeing them book more work after our sessions.

Music

Growing up in New York live music was always a cornerstone of my upbringing. Supporting small venues and new artists by capturing these moments on stage has always been a passion for me. Being apart of these moments and sharing a point in music history

Events

I have been shooting events mostly in NYC for the past ten years. Anything from birthdays to food launches to corporate parties and much more. I enjoy the fast paced and incredibly social nature of this sort of work and have fostered years long relationships with many of my clients.

Real Estate

I have worked with owners of airbnbs and petsitting platforms to ensure their homes are being accurately portrayed. This allowed them to book better guests and give off the air of professionalism to those wanting to stay in their home.

Meet the Photographer

Hey, my name is Tara

Hello, my name is Tara. Shooting headshots is something I have done professionally for over ten years but photography has been an outlet of mine for much longer than that.

I began photographing backstage at my community theatre during intermissions, documenting the silly things we did backstage as teenagers.

Eventually graduating to shooting the performances onstage and the people on it.

From there I went onto get my degree in theatre performance all the while shooting headshots for my classmates.

Photography and acting seem to be the only consistent things in my life and I am excited to continue these two passions along with all the people I meet along the way.

What should i wear? (portraits)

When you book a session I will send over an in depth guide of clothing options to bring for your shoot. The best advice I can give though right away is to wear what makes you feel amazing while also avoiding any tight small patterns.

do i need a makeup artist? (portraits)

I would highly advise you to get your hair and makeup professionally done since you want to be looking your absolute best.

At this time I do not offer packages that include a hair or makeup artist but I am able to offer some recommendations to ones I know that work with film.

And yes this is important, the artist you choose must be aware of how to do makeup and hair for film as this is not that same thing as your everyday makeup. They have trained to make sure the look you receive translates well on camera and not just in person.

You will be allowed to bring this artist into your shoot for touch ups but everything should be done before your scheduled time as to not cut into your shoot. I hope to offer packages that allow for in-studio hair and makeup in the future.

If you chose to not use a hair or make up artist please come with natural makeup. This still does mean wearing makeup. A light even base that matches your skin tone, mascara, light enhancements overall to make sure you are looking fresh.

And definitely do not forget lip balm, chapped lips is something that can be difficult to fix when editing your images in a natural way.

For those with facial hair, please take into consideration how you would like this to appear in your photos before your shoot. Stay away from any heavy lip colors, dark heavy eye makeup and use a light hand on the eyeliner if you chose to wear any at all.

How many images will I receive?

Typically between 100-400 is normal, this varies a lot depending on shoot length. You do not however receive all the images for personal use, these images appear in a watermarked gallery from which you will choose your final images to be edited. I do allow the ability to download unedited candid photos only for personal use like on your website or social media. This means photos non-staged (ie. laughing or pulling a silly face) only if you'd like them.

From this gallery you will have the ability to share with friends, family, agents in order to help you choose what images you would like to be your final edits.

The amount of edits you will receive are determined by the package you purchase.

Once you choose your images they will be edited and sent to you in a downloadable format for you to use. Any additional edits can be purchased as an add on before or after your photos have been shot.

When will i get my images?

You will receive a gallery of all web-sized images from your shoot within a 48 hour window. Images that have obviously blurred eyes, blinking, etc will be taken out to help maximize efficiency for you to chose edited shot that are of the best quality.

You will have access to the images for one month from upload. The gallery allows you to choose the photos you would like edited as well as share photo with others, like an agent, to receive some input to help with that decision if needed.

After you have chosen your final images you will send them to me to start editing.

The turn around for edits is usually less than 2 weeks. If for some reason I feel it may take longer you will be notified about this, but you will receive images regardless at a maximum of 4 weeks after they have been sent to be edited.

You will receive both full quality and web sized images.

Full sized images are for printing and anywhere that quality matters, such as a large photo on you website.

Web-sized images can be used for sites that have maximum quality restrictions like your acting profiles or in emails.

Can I have all the unretouched/RAW files?

I do not offer downloads of all unretouched images.

I do not allow access to RAW files strictly for legal reasons.

RAW files are he only true way to prove true ownership of a photo. If a client were to use the photos in a way that was not agreed upon if we both have the RAW files there no real way for me to prove true ownership.

Due to this, I will never allow access to RAW files but in some circumstances access to unedited JPG files may be negotiated at an added cost.

These images are also not finished.

Raw photographs really are just the blueprint for the final photo. They are not meant to be used as final images as they are flat and often gray due to the dense information packed into the file. They require editing to bring out the appropriate color to the subjects and environment.

If you are booking with me you are not only booking me for the final images you will receive not the unfinished products.

I edit the images tastefully and do not remove any permanent features of your likeness, such as beauty marks, scars or prominent wrinkles. These features are part of you and a headshot is supposed to represent you and your likeness on your best day.

You will receive a client gallery with all your images to choose from for final edits so you will have an opportunity to look at all the images. I offer retouched images with all my packages and this gallery is available for a month after your shoot if you'd like to purchase any additional retouched images.

If there is one or two images, such as a fun outtake that you would really like laughing or making a silly face, just let me know and in this case I will give you a lightly color graded image of this to use for personal reasons only on the house. This would not include any photo that could be used as a professional headshot.

Can I bring someone to my session? (portraits)

Other than minors I would highly advise you do not bring friends or family along to your shoot.

It creates an environment that is very different than the one I try to create for my clients.

We want to have a relaxed environment for us to work in. A space that is free of outside eyes that could pose distraction and even judgement where there shouldn't be any.

If you do still wish to bring someone else please be sure to inform me before that shoots as no more than one person will be permitted in this case and they may be asked to sit in the lobby while we work.

do you offer reshoots? (portraits)

We will be going over details before hand to ensure you're feeling comfortable about everything before your shoot.

Throughout our shoot we will likely be taking over 100 photos, which you will be frequently viewing throughout the duration of your shoot to allow for adjustments to be made.

If you aren't feeling good about something I encourage everyone to speak up about any issues so they may be adjusted at the shoot to ensure you walk away happy with your photos.

Because of this we do not allow reshoots but returning clients receive 10% off their next shoot.
